The Winning Try Ep 5 grabs highest rating yet – also hits Netflix Top 10 in 6 countries

I am so happy when I check Nielsen Korea’s latest data and see The Winning Try earning its highest rating.

Something that has happened every morning after an episode of the sports-themed K-drama airs, including this morning, since it premiered on July 25th.

As yes, yet again, The Winning Try, Episode 5 earned another personal best last night.

That nationwide rating, by the way, was 5.5 percent last night.

And sure, it is only .10 percent higher than Episode 4’s audience share of 5.4 percent, but it’s a ratings rise nevertheless.

Meanwhile, the SBS drama’s rating in Seoul was an even higher 5.9 percent, which is a teeny tiny drop from the 6.0 percent it garnered for Episode 4.

The Winning Try on Netflix

Meanwhile, the Korean drama is also performing well on Netflix where it is currently in the Top 10 in six countries — Bolivia (#9), Honduras (#10), Indonesia (#6), Malaysia (#7), Singapore (#9), and South Korea (#6).

Sadly, The Winning Try has not climbed onto the Netflix Top 10 Non-English Shows chart so far, but we can live in hope, right?

The Winning Try and international ratings

On My Drama List, international viewers seem to still be enjoying the Korean drama, as it is currently grabbing an 8.3 out of 10, and with largely upbeat comments about both the plot and the performances.

Comments like this about Episode 5’s plot show how much people are enjoying the Korean series:

I loved how episode 5 was focused on Yeong Gwang, it’s good to see the other players getting more screen time and development. His worries and frustration were realistic and justified but his final decision was so touching. I loved how Ju Garam supported him even though he didn’t seem to understand him at first.

And the brotherhood among the team is so precious to me!

or like this about the villains in the show, proving how well-written they are as they are really getting to this viewer đŸ™‚ :

Man, fuck the vice principal and bully coach from the shooting team,,, instead of focusing on the goddamn budget they should just do their jobs damn

The drama is performing even better on IMDB, where it is earning a very high (for viewers of that site) of 8.5 out of 10.

The next episode of The Winning Try, which stars the excellent main of Yoon Kye Sang, Im Se Mi and Kim Yo Han, airs tonight on SBS in South Korea and on Netflix internationally.
