The Winning Try, EP2 sees ratings jump as it earns HIGH ratings from international viewers

I am thrilled to see the rugby-themed K-drama The Winning Try, Episode 2 drop last night to even higher ratings than its first episode on Friday.

According to data via Nielsen Korea, The Winning Try, Episode 2, which to me was even more entertaining than Episode 1 with its brilliant mix of genuinely funny humor and more serious scenes, grabbed 4.4 percent of the nationwide audience share on Saturday night.

That’s a solid increase from the already good 4.1 percent of the viewership on Friday.

The SBS TV drama performed even better in Seoul where that region’s audience caused the K-drama’s ratings to jump from Friday’s 3.9 percent to last night’s 4.8 percent.

Still solid international ratings for The Winning Try

International viewers on My Drama List are also still rating The Winning Try an excellent (for that site) 8.2 out of 10, and with comments that are still overwhelmingly supportive of the drama and its cast.

Meanwhile, IMDB’s ratings have finally been updated and, while it is only 27 users rating the Korean drama so far, they are giving it an even higher rating of 9.3 out of 10.

Not surprised, as Episode 2, while funny, was also quite touching as the underdogs try to prove they can succeed if given a chance.

The Winning Try stars Yoon Kye Sang, Im Se Mi and Kim Yo Han, with its next episode dropping on Friday, August 1st.

It’s only a short series (just 12 episodes), but let’s hope the show’s ratings keep going up, as this one is offering a story that’s a nice refreshing change, and with a rugby theme that’s unique for a Korean drama.

Episodes 1 and 2 are now streaming internationally on Netflix.

Netflix also releases its Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart on Tuesday, and my guess is it will hit that chart too. We’ll keep you posted here on Leo Sigh.
