According to data via Nielsen Korea, The Winning Try, Episode 3 grabbed its highest ratings so far with both nationwide and Seoul audiences.

Nationwide, the Korean rugby-themed drama earned 5.1 percent of the audience — substantially up from the 4.4 percent it earned last Saturday night.

The SBS drama performed even better with Seoul audiences, earning 5.5 percent of the viewership, which is solidly up from its last episode’s audience share of 4.8 percent.

With the Korean drama earning higher ratings for its Saturday episode last week versus its Friday episode, that also means we are likely to see even higher ratings for The Winning Try later on tonight when Episode 4 releases.

International ratings for The Winning Try after Episode 3 airs

K-drama fans watching The Winning Try internationally are also still rating the series with solid ratings, with even the oft-disgruntled folks over at My Drama List currently awarding it an 8.2 out of 10 (an excellent rating from users of that site).

Comments too are upbeat about the series, and in some instances ecstatic, ranging from the funny:

This show is so much fun! Love the coach, the chemistry between him and his ex, and the players. The villains are their usual annoying and bullying selves, but it’s still a great watch with a lot of heart.

After watching the guys and their muscular rugby thighs, I want to do squats all day.

to rugby fans who are thrilled they can finally see their favorite sport be front and center in a drama:

Been looking forward to this kdrama all year. I’ve followed rugby for years and attended many XV and 7s matches in various countries in northern and southern hemisphere including the RWC. Yes, they are playing rugby 7s properly in the drama, which is now an Olympic sport, using proper techniques.

There’s an exciting match in Ep.2. Yoon Kye Sang has great comedic timing I was unaware of from previous roles. 🙃

The Winning Try is also earning an even higher 8.5 out of 10 on IMDB, albeit from just 53 viewers so far.

I’m just disappointed The Winning Try hasn’t made it to the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart yet.

It should have done by now, as it has everything that makes a drama good — including excellent performances, a well-written and interesting-never-dull plot, actually funny humor and superb cinematography.

Fingers crossed for next week then, eh?

The Winning Try stars Yoon Kye SangIm Se Mi and Kim Yo Han, with its next episode hitting Netflix internationally, and SBS in Korea, later on tonight.
