Danmei ‘Stars of Chaos’ Vol 5 out today – final volume features gorgeous cover art

Even if I was not a huge danmei (boys’ love) fan, I would still be interested in buying most of Seven Seas Entertainment’s danmei novels for their covers alone.

Designed by artists typically commissioned for each novel series, Seven Seas Entertainment’s danmei collection definitely stand out from the herd as the cover of each book is so stunningly designed.

Case in point, the just-released-today steampunk danmei novel Stars of Chaos, Volume 5.

It is the final volume in the latest Priest series, and one that features a gorgeous cover illustration of protagonists Chang Geng and Gu Yun (above) looking like they have finally overcome all their problems.

In addition, the book comes with an added bonus — a page fold-out illustration bound into the book, plus a hidden back flap illustration, both illustrated by special guest artists.

Unfortunately, the final volume in this danmei series does not seem to be getting a Special Edition like most/all of Seven Seas’ other series have had released.

Hopefully that will change in the future.

Synopsis of Stars of Chaos, Volume 5

As for the plot of the final volume of Stars of Chaos: Sha Po Lang, Seven Seas describes it like this:

Four years ago, Chang Geng and Gu Yun parted in anger. When fate draws them together again, Chang Geng, a once-awkward teen, is now an elegant and adroit young man.
But storms lie ahead. As Great Liang faces foreign pressure from without, Gu Yun finds himself embroiled in turmoil within the imperial court.
Meanwhile, as the curse in Chang Geng’s blood grows, his feelings for his godfather become more painful to subdue by the day. How much longer can he keep Gu Yun from learning his secret…and what will happen when he can hide it no more?
Both the print and digital editions of Stars of Chaos, Volume 5 are available to purchase via Seven Seas Entertainment now for around $19.99/US, depending on the platform you buy it from, and with the digital edition at $9.99/US.
With its steampunk theme, the Stars of Chaos series is quite a bit different than many of the danmei novels Seven Seas publishes while also featuring the same detailed prose Priest has become known for creating.
After initially being a little dubious about its subject matter, however, but nevertheless enjoying Priest’s previous series Guardian immensely, I gave it a shot and can happily say it’s an engrossing read.
