The TVING/tvN period drama The Queen Who Crowns, Episode 4 earned the show’s highest nationwide rating yet on Tuesday night, as well as was the #1 show in its time slot.
Data via Nielsen Korea shows The Queen Who Crowns, Episode 4 grabbed 5.59 percent of the nationwide audience last night — up from Episode 3’s viewership of 4.91 percent.
Audiences watching the tvN series in Seoul also gave the K-drama close to it highest rating of its run so far, with the show earning 5.327 percent of that region’s audience compared to Episode 2’s audience share of 5.329 percent — a teeny tiny difference, indeed.
International viewers rate The Queen Who Crowns after Episode 4
Korean drama fans watching The Queen Who Crowns outside Korea also seem to be quite happy with how the series is progressing, as their ratings have been pretty consistent throughout.
Over on My Drama List (MDL), for instance, users there are rating the historical drama a steady 7.7 out of 10 — which has remained almost the same since the K-drama premiered on January 6th to solid ratings.
Not a huge rating, of course, but historical dramas often seem to earn lower ratings over there than their more modern counterparts.
Plus, MDL still has a problem with trolls that will downrate a K-drama without even watching it, or will downrate it after one episode because one line an actress delivered “offended them”.
Comments, however, are almost overwhelmingly positive with viewers who are watching the drama saying things like:
Seems that people are sleeping on this drama. I have never been a historical drama watcher, unless it had something to do with zombies, but I decided to give this one a try, and it hasn’t been a disappointment.
Very intriguing drama, powerful, and keeps you on your toes. This is definitely a must watch.
while another viewer comments:
This drama is riveting, not a boring moment. High quality historical drama. Faithful to historical facts. I’m blown away by how well written and acted this is. Lee Sung Min as King Taejo is masterclass level acting once again. This is 9/10 to me.
The Queen Who Crowns is streaming via Viki outside South Korea, and viewers over there are even more complimentary about the drama, while awarding it a very high 9.4 out of 10 so far.
The Korean drama stars Lee Hyun Wook, Lee Yi Dam, and Lee Shi Ah, and airs every Monday and Tuesday on both tvN and TVING in South Korea.
Its next episode will hit on January 20th.
