The surprisingly cute, fun and very Laid-back Camp and Non Non Biyori-like anime series Food for the Soul just got a new character PV and, if you have been watching the slice-of-life series, you will be happy with who it is.
This time it is for Kurea Furutachi, one of Food for the Soul‘s main girls, and someone who is not only hard-working and responsible (she helps out at her mother’s restaurant while studying full-time in university), she is also incredibly sweet and kind.
We meet Kurea in the anime’s first episode, of course, when she and her friends are trying to find a fourth girl to join their university club so they can get it approved.
We see her again when main protagonist Maco Kawai is hungrily looking at food in her mother’s restaurant’s window, and Kurea invites her in, then gives up her own meal when the one Maco wants has just sold out.
In the Kurea Furutachi character PV, we see the university student taking care of her friends, and making them take a break once she sees they are tired. Yep, kind.
Kurea is voiced by Ai Kakuma (Albis in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime).
Food for the Soul production details
The anime is based on an original story from Atto, author of Non Non Biyori so, yep, it is easy to see why its atmosphere seems so familiar.
It is being directed by Shinya Kawatsura (Non Non Biyori) and Tohru Harumi (assistant director The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie), with Yoshihiro Hiki (Akiba Maid War) in charge of series composition, and Hajime Mitsuda (Kiratto Pri☆chan) designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.
One of Japan’s top animation studios, P.A. Works (Shirobako), is animating.
The Food for the Soul plot goes like this:
Mako Kawai is a first-year student who is shy and afraid to try new things. She has a hobby of cooking and is often curious about the food she finds around her, although her curiosity is often thwarted by her nature.
However, unexpectedly she meets her elementary school friend, Shinon Ogawa, who turns out to be her college friend as well.
Shinon creates a new club themed on food research at her campus and tries to invite Mako to join her club.
Together with Kurea Furutachi, Tsutsuji Higa and, eventually Nana Hoshi, the five of them go on an adventure to find delicious and tasty food. (via Wikipedia)
