Introduction to Mineralogy key visual – Ruri finds minerals in the river, Youko examines them under a microscope

Upcoming slice-of-life anime Ruri no Houseki (aka Introduction to Mineralogy) has a new key visual out as the series gets ever nearer to its release. (No premiere date yet, but we do know it’s in 2025 so…).

One half of the latest Introduction to Mineralogy key visual shows jewelry-obsessed Ruri out on the river bank with Shouko, who has just shown her how to spot a mineral in the water.

Ruri, of course, is crazily excited as finding minerals that can be made into jewelry is her greatest dream come true.

The other half of the new visual shows Nagi in the school library, showing Youko how to notice even the tiniest of minerals under a microscope.

The latest Introduction to Mineralogy key visual was released on the anime’s official X account with the comment:

“I should be able to find some too.”

Sometimes they dip into the river, and other times they peer at unknown minerals through a microscope – guided by Nagi, Ruri dives into the world of mineral collecting.

Introduction to Mineralogy anime adaptation details

The upcoming slice-of-life/educational anime is based on the manga of the same name by Keiichirou Shibuya.

It is being directed by Shingo Fujii (Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister!), with Michiko Yokote (Train to the End of the World) in charge of series composition, and Mayu Fujii (2nd Key Animation for Spy x Family Code: White) designing the cute characters.

Studio Bind (Mushoku Tensei) is animating the series.

The plot of Introduction to Mineralogy is described in Volume 1 of the manga like this:

“Mineral Collecting is the Modern Treasure Hunt!”

High school girl Ruri, who loves gems and jewelry, dives into the world of mineral collecting—venturing into mountains, rivers, and caves.

Numerous minerals make an appearance, including quartz, garnet, pyrite, gold dust, and fluorite. Plus, the collection scenes, featuring specialized tools like panning dishes, hammers, and topographic maps, are packed with excitement.

A fully-fledged science adventure, grounded in the author’s expert knowledge of mineralogy!

Keep checking back to Leo Sigh, as we will let you know as soon as the anime’s official premiere date is announced.
