Jung Woo Sung to star in drama Made in Korea with Hyun Bin considering a starring role

As a massive fan of Korean actor Jung Woo Sung, especially since his performance as a deaf artist in Tell Me That You Love Me, I have to say I am thrilled with the news out of South Korea this week that he will star in upcoming drama series Made in Korea.

The news came out in various Korean news media, along with Hyun Bin also being named as a co-star.

But, whereas Jung Woo Sung’s involvement in Made in Korea has been confirmed by production company Hive Media Corp, Hyun Bin’s agency VAST Entertainment simply announced he has been offered a role in Made in Korea, but is still considering it.

We will have to wait and see then, if Hyun Bin ends up being Jung Woo Sung’s co-star, or if another similar caliber actor accepts the role instead.

There is an expectation in Korea, however, that the Made in Korea cast will be one featuring very high caliber actors, so this one could be very interesting indeed.

What is Made in Korea about?

The drama will be another period project for Jung Woo Sung, who starred in 12.12: The Day last year.

That film ended up being the highest grossing film in South Korea in 2023, as well as one of the most successful films in Korean movie history.

In the case of Made in Korea, like 12.12: The Day, the drama also takes place in the 1970s – an era of huge upheaval in Korea as it moved from a poor country to beginning its ascent to a country with a booming economy and now one of the wealthiest in the world.

The K-drama’s plot follows Jang Geon Young, a prosecutor with animal-like instincts and a terrifying obsession.

Nothing more has yet been released about the Made in Korea plot, nor have the names of other actors starring in it been announced.

Meanwhile, director Woo Min Ho (Inside Men and The Drug King) has been named as directing.

Production on Made in Korea will begin this summer, with no date yet announced as to when the Korean drama will eventually premiere.

We will keep you posted with updated news as we find out.

As for Jung Woo Sung, the Korean actor recently hit the #1 spot on the Film Actors Brand Reputation Rankings due to his work on 12.12: The Day, as well as #7 on the drama actor brand reputation rankings primarily due to his superb performance in last year’s drama Tell Me That You Love Me.
