Listen to Mitski’s ‘First Love/Late Spring’ from The Law According to Lidia Poët, Episode 4

Japanese-American indie rock singer songwriter Mitski’s ‘First Love/Late Spring‘ was played on The Law According to Lidia Poët, Episode 4 this week.

The song was the track playing as Lidia and Jacopo are having sex.

It was released in 2014 as the lead single from her third studio album Bury Me at Makeout Creek.

The album came out via the indie label Double Double Whammy, with the singer saying she had written the song as she found herself falling in love with someone, and realized she couldn’t control it even if she wanted to.

While ‘First Love/Late Spring‘ didn’t chart, Mitski’s Bury Me at Makeout Creek album was both critically acclaimed and charted in three countries — Scotland, Lithuania and the United Kingdom.

Oddly though, it did not chart in the United States.

Bury Me at Makeout Creek was the first album Mitski released as a professional singer as, prior to its release, her first too full-length albums came out as studio projects.

Listen to Mitski’s ‘First Love/Late Spring‘ as played on the first season of The Law According to Lidia Poët on her Bury Me at Makeout Creek (the title of which, by the way, comes from an episode of The Simpsons) and in the video.

Oh and yes, just in case you are curious, the historical drama is based on a real person and a true story.

You can find more information about her life on Netflix.
