Longing For You Ep 1 premieres with AVERAGE ratings for an ENA drama but likely to RISE

The first episode of the new South Korean drama Longing for You (aka 오랫동안 당신을 기다렸습니다 in Korean) premiered last night with average ratings for an ENA drama.

Those ratings were 1.40 percent nationwide, and a slightly lower 1.35 percent audience share from viewers in Seoul.

Longing for You, Episode 1 aired on ENA at  21:00 (KST), and is the drama taking over the time slot of the recently ended Battle for Happiness.

Like most recent ENA dramas, which almost always seem to start off on a relatively low note, Longing for You will likely increase its ratings quite quickly.

Battle for Happiness, for instance, started out with just 0.70 percent of the ratings nationwide, but increased its ratings almost immediately and ultimately ended with 2.62 percent of the audience share.

Then, of course, there is the massive success story of the ENA drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which kicked off its first episode with just 0.94 percent of the audience and, by the time it ended, was garnering 17.53 percent of the audience share.

In other words, ENA dramas like Longing for You, Episode 1 seem to start with a slow smolder that burns into something quite bright.

ENA describes the Longing for You plot like this:

A murder case occurred in Woojin, in a town blessed with no crime. Detective Oh Jin Seong, known for being cheerful, joins the investigation team when his younger brother Jin Woo is identified as a suspect in a murder case. Jin Woo is eventually cleared of the false accusations, and the culprit is revealed.

Jin Seong’s performance earns him preferential treatment at the Gangnam Police station, but his brother is suddenly attacked by someone on a rainy night and dies.

Jin Seong then makes it his life’s mission to find the real culprit of the murder case, while coming to terms with his family’s own secrets.

Longing for You stars Na In Woo, Kim Ji Eun, Kwon Yul, Bae Jong Ok, Lee Kyu Han, and Jung Sang Hoon.

It airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 21:00 (KST) on ENA.

Outside South Korea, Longing for You is now streaming via Viki.
