Natsume’s Book of Friends 7 gets trailer, beautiful Fall visual and premiere date

The upcoming Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7 got a premiere date today via a post on the anime’s official X account, and that premiere date is a lot closer than you probably think — Tuesday, October 8th at 12:00 AM.

Along with its official premiere, a cute Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7 trailer was released, which reminds us of all the strange and wonderful yokai or spirits protagonist Natsume Takashi is able to see that most of the rest of the people around him cannot.

Snippets of the anime’s opening and ending theme songs — Hinata Kashiwagi’s ‘Alca’ and Toshiki Kondo’s ‘Komariwarai‘ — can be heard in the trailer. (Watch below)

A beautiful Fall visual also came out at the same time featuring Natsume and his spirit friend Madara, aka Nyanko-sensei, walking down a beautiful leaf-strewn lane.

Natsume’s Book of Friends 7 details

Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7, like all six seasons before it is based on the manga by Yuki Midorikawa.

VIZ Media publishes the manga series in English, with an astounding 29 volumes already out and Volume 30 on pre-order.

VIZ describes the manga series’ plot like this:

Takashi Natsume can see the spirits and demons that hide from the rest of humanity. He has always been set apart from other people because of his gift, drifting from relative to relative, never fitting in.

Now he’s a troubled high school student who has come to live in the small town where his grandmother grew up. And there he discovers that he has inherited more than just the Sight from the mysterious Reiko.

The first season of the popular supernatural slice-of-life anime adaptation premiered in July, 2008 so it is 16 years since we first welcomed Natsume and all those wonderfully mysterious beings into our lives.

For Season 7 of the supernatural series, Hideki Ito (director of Natsume’s Book of Friends Movie: Ephemeral Bond) is directing the anime under the supervision of original director and now chief director Takahiro Oomori.

Sadayuki Murai is back in charge of series composition, while Akira Takada is designing the characters.

Studio Shuka is again in charge of anime production.

Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7 will stream in the United States and other regions via Crunchyroll, with fans in some regions able to watch it via Netflix.
