Is anyone surprised that the first episode of The Fiery Priest 2 aired last night and became the most-watched show of any kind on South Korean TV for all of Friday?
Because I know I’m not.
After all, the first season of the comedy crime action series was one of the top TV shows of the year when it aired in 2019.
So it was pretty predictable that The Fiery Priest 2 would likely earn the same huge audience when it premiered.
The Fiery Priest 2 grabs big ratings in South Korea
Those ratings for The Fiery Priest 2, Episode 1, by the way, were 11.9 percent nationwide, and 12.4 percent from viewers in Seoul. (via Nielsen Korea)
Ratings that were higher than those earned by the show for the first episode of its first season (10.4 percent nationwide and 11.6 percent in Seoul).

As that season ended its final episode with a massive nationwide audience of 22.0 percent and an even bigger 24.70 percent of the audience share in Seoul, the sky is only the limit for The Fiery Priest 2.
The Fiery Priest 2 again stars Kim Nam Gil, Kim Sung Kyun, and Lee Hanee (aka Honey Lee) in the lead roles, alongside Sung Joon, Seo Hyun Woo, and BIBI, who joined the cast for Season 2.
The K-drama’s next episode will air on SBS in South Korea, with international Korean drama fans able to watch it via Disney+.
Is anyone else expecting its ratings to soar even more?
