It has been confirmed that talented veteran actor Seo Hyun Woo (A Shop for Killers) will be joining the previously announced Sung Joon as one of the antagonists in the upcoming single-camera K-drama The Fiery Priest 2.

He will take on the role of Nam Doo Heon, a senior prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors’ Office who, despite his public image as a top crime-fighter, is secretly working for a drug cartel.

In other words, it appears 2024 will be a very busy year for Seo Hyun Woo, as he has a main role in the soon-to-premiere drama Uncle Samsik, another leading role in the drama Not Very Powerful, But Attractive, and has also just been named by Netflix as playing one of the lead characters in the film Wall to Wall.

Then again, when you look at the Korean actor’s superb performances in dramas like Flower of Evil, The Lies Within, and Behind Every Star, as well as in recent films My Name is Loh Kiwan, Thunderbird and Phantom, it is no wonder he is in such high demand.

Seo Hyun Woo joins the already confirmed The Fiery Priest 2 main cast of Kim Nam Gil, Kim Sung Kyun, Lee Ha Nee, and BIBI.

The Fiery Priest 2 plot

The storyline of The Fiery Priest 2 will continue following the adventures of Catholic priest Kim Hae Il (Kim Nam Gil) and detective Goo Dae Young (Kim Sung Kyun) alongside prosecutor Park Kyung Sun (Lee Ha Nee), as they collaborate on investigations.

This time their investigation involves a big-time drug cartel run by new villain Kim Hong Sik (played by Sung Joon), necessitating the team head to Busan to find out what’s going on.

Unlike the first season, which was co-directed by Park Bo Ram and Lee Myung Woo, The Fiery Priest 2 will be solely directed by Park Bo Ram (Through the Darkness), with first season screenwriter Park Jae Bum back writing Part 2.

The new drama is being produced by Kim Nam Gil’s own company Gil Story ENT alongside various other entities.

While we do know the Korean crime drama is in production, there is no word yet on whether filming has begun.

But fans can anticipate the premiere of The Fiery Priest 2 in the latter half of 2024, airing exclusively on SBS.
