The second season of the Korean crime drama PlayerThe Player 2: Master of Swindlers — aired last night to a very solid rating — both from nationwide audiences, as well as those in Seoul.

Those ratings via Nielsen Korea were 4.18 percent nationwide, and a higher 4.65 percent from viewers in Seoul.

They are also similar to ratings the K-drama earned for much of its first season back in late 2018.

With The Player 2 streaming on tvN instead of on OCN, however, that may mean its ratings end up quite different by the time the drama ends.

Up or down? We will have to wait and see.

Preliminary international ratings for The Player 2

The K-drama is also earning decent personal ratings from international viewers on several websites so far.

A handful of people over on My Drama List, a platform whose users notoriously low-ball their ratings, are giving The Player 2 a high (for them) 8.4 out of 10 so far, which is promising.

Over on Viki, where The Player 2: Master of Swindlers is now streaming, a similarly low number of users are currently rating the K-drama a very high 9.6 out of 10.

Then again, over 1,100 Viki users have rated the first season of Player an even higher 9.7 out of 10, so there’s that.

The Player 2 stars Song Seung Heon, Lee Si Eon, Tae Won Seok, Oh Yeon Seo, and Jang Gyu Ri, with Krystal Jung, the star of the drama’s first season, also making a cameo appearance.

The next episode of The Player 2: Master of Swindlers will air tonight on tvN in South Korea, followed by streaming via Viki.

We will report back here on Leo Sigh tomorrow with what its second episode’s ratings look like then.
