If you have been eagerly waiting for the previously announced action-adventure donghua World of Immortals (aka Chang Sheng Jie) as long as I have, tomorrow is the day we have all been desperate to see come.
That’s because Episode 1 of the fantasy donghua is due to hit the airwaves tomorrow — October 29th, 2024 — for a currently scheduled 26 episodes of 18-minutes each in length.
Who is producing and animatingWorld of Immortals?
The upcoming donghua is based on the novels written by Chen Dong (辰东)), author of the hit novels Perfect World and Shrouding the Heavens — both of which already have their own donghua airing. (here) and (here)
World of Immortals is produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures, and is being animated by Qingxiang Culture studios (Bai Lian Cheng Shen).
Earlier in the week, Qingxiang Culture posted the final World of Immortals posters on their Weibo account, along with a reminder it will be streaming exclusively on Tencent Video on Tuesdays at 10:00 pm (Beijing time).

Tencent Video’s YouTube channel is also promoting the new donghua with a new trailer (watch below) as, along with Tencent’s many other series, it will be streaming there exclusively for Tencent Video premium members.

The latest World of Immortals trailer shows a donghua that is high-energy in nature, and featuring a protagonist who, it appears, quickly becomes quite kickass.
The animation looks superb, the fight scenes are phenomenal, and the character models and lush backgrounds are beautifully done, so this one looks like a must-watch for those things alone.
Throw in some epic-sounding music and, if you liked Perfect World (and who didn’t?), it seems very likely you will love this!
Hopefully, it will ultimately get as many episodes as that one too!
The World of Immortals plot
Tencent Video describes the donghua’s plot like this:
The story is about Xiao Chen, who is pursued by Zhao Lin’er, the Royal Heavenly Maiden, and accidentally enters the barbaric Dragon Island of the Everlasting Realm.
Unfortunately for Xiao Chen, it is impossible to return home, yet going forward opens him up to a plethora of monsters and other enemies determined to kill him.
But, due to his upbringing and morals taught to him by his family and friends, he is able to fight well and defeat any enemy that approaches.
In this foreign new world, where humans and gods co-exist, Xiao Chen must fight in blood-thrilling battles, while avoiding the temptations of passion and desire.
Thus, will he be able to trace the footsteps of the immortals, while learning about an ancient mythological world that has been sealed shut for millenia.
