Listen to Tom Waits’ ‘Time’ from ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’, It Made Richard’s Funeral Even Sadder

The just released first episode of ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life‘ has some phenomenal music on its soundtrack. So good, there are at least five songs I have been listening to back to back since I watched the show.

One of them is the beautiful Tom Waits ballad ‘Time‘, which was the track played on ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life‘ during the flashback while Lorelai, Rory and Emily were in the car riding to the funeral of Lorelai’s father, Richard, and then during the funeral itself.

Time‘ first appeared on Tom Waits’ eighth studio album Rain Dogs which was originally released in 1985. And it is the melancholiness of the song that pulls the whole album together, as well as this line sung in Waits’ raspy voice — “It’s time, time, time that you loved/It’s time, time, time.”

Listen to the Tom Waits song ‘Time‘ in the video below. And didn’t it just make Richard’s funeral seem even sadder?
