Production details for The Water Magician anime adaptation
The anime adaptation of the Tadashi Kubou-written novel of the same name is being directed by Hideyuki Satake (episode director of My Dress-Up Darling), with series composition by Jun Kumagai (Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju), and character designs from Haruka Otsuzumi, Riku Matsumoto and Nana Nakayama.
Animation production is jointly carried out by Typhoon Graphics (Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke’s Mansion) and new studio Wonderland.
Volume 1 of its original Japanese light novel describes The Water Magician plot in this way:
After being reborn in another world, young Ryou casts his first spell—summoning a single glass of water. What begins as a humble slow-life skill soon spirals into a daily grind of life-or-death battles!
Stranded alone on the isolated Lond Subcontinent, Ryou faces:
☠️ Headless knights clashing swords
🦅 Assassin hawks diving at dawn
🐉 Dragon encounters mid-napYet whether by his carefree nature or hidden “Ageless” skill, two decades pass—and somehow, he becomes humanity’s greatest water mage!
Everything changes when he meets Abel, a genius swordsman, who drags Ryou onto history’s center stage…
“If overthinking is pointless—don’t think at all.”
Thus begins the laid-back adventures of the strongest water mage—who redefines “OP” by doing absolutely nothing strategically.
Crunchyroll will be streaming The Water Magician internationally. Look out for it dropping on July 3rd.
