The new ENA drama Dear Hyeri, Episode 1 premiered the Kdrama last night to solid ratings.

Ratings that were higher than its popular predecessor Your Honor’s first episode, when it premiered on ENA on August 12th.

Those ratings for Dear Hyeri, Episode 1 were 2.024 percent nationwide (compared to Your Honor‘s viewership of 1.73 percent).

In Seoul, the Kdrama performed even better grabbing 2.38 percent of that region’s viewership.

Not bad for a drama that, frankly, didn’t receive a huge amount of publicity before it aired.

Then again, Dear Hyeri does star the utterly wonderful Shin Hye Sun (Welcome to Samdalri) alongside the equally superb main cast of Lee Jin Wook (Sweet Home), Kang Hoon (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse), and Jo Hye Joo (My Demon). (watch cast video below)

What is the Dear Hyeri plot?

Dear Hyeri follows Joo Eun Ho (played by Shin Hye Sun), a woman who develops a second personality as a parking lot attendant after two devastating incidents occur.

Meanwhile, as she struggles to make a name for herself as a TV announcer after working for 14 years to little attention, her ex-boyfriend Jung Hyun Oh is a star announcer who seems to be able to do no wrong.

Dear Hyeri airs every Monday and Tuesday at 22:00 on ENA in South Korea, with Viki streaming it internationally.

On Viki, by the way, it is currently being awarded a 9.5 out of 10 stars after the first episode.

And, come on, it’s Shin Hye Sun, so of course we all know this one will be a huge hit, right!
