South Korean actors, and close friends, Zo In Sung and Cha Tae Hyun have left their previous agencies and founded their own.

Called Basecamp Company, the new Korean entertainment agency was announced in Korean news media yesterday, after Zo In Sung left his agency NS ENM in February, followed by Cha Tae Hyun departing Blossom Entertainment back in March.

Interestingly, Blossom Entertainment is an agency Cha Tae Hyun himself co-founded with a manager friend in 2012.

It appears now, however, he has decided to move on from that agency and work with Zo In Sung, and a group of people they have hired, to create something completely new.

What is the mission of Basecamp Company?

Like fellow actors and co-agency owners Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae, who established their own agency, Artist Company, in 2016, Zo In Sung and Cha Tae Hyun have also been close friends for several decades.

From 2021 to early 2024, they even starred in the three seasons of the hit cooking show/reality TV show Unexpected Business together (see photo above, and watch the trailer for Unexpected Business in California down below).

They now say they want to build an agency that is a solid foundation for fellow artists, and that they chose the name Basecamp Company as, much like a base camp is essential for mountain climbing or new explorations, their agency will provide stable support for their and their artists’ activities as they move forward together.

But, don’t worry that Basecamp Company will be an agency staffed with newcomers to the entertainment industry, as that isn’t happening at all.

Instead, the two actors have staffed the agency with professionals who have worked with them for at least the last eight years.

There is no word yet on any artists Basecamp Company may have signed, but it is early days yet.

Current Zo In Sung and Cha Tae Hyun projects

Meanwhile, after starring together in the hit K-drama Moving in 2023, Zo In Sung’s next project will be spy action film Humint alongside Park Jeong Min, Park Hae Joon and Shin Sae Kyeong.

That film is rumored to have a 2025 release date.

As for Cha Tae Hyun, he is a regular member of the outdoor variety show Handsome Guys ( 핸썸가이즈) alongside mixed martial arts expert Kim Dong Hyun, actor Lee Yi Kyung (Marry My Husband), actor Shin Seung Ho (Alchemy of Souls) and Asian/world champion fencer Oh Sang Uk.
