They both follow on from the teaser trailer and first visual released for the animated movie back in late April.

Lost in Starlight is the first Korean-animated IP to release on Netflix, so this one is definitely one to check out.

Well, that, and just a quick watch of its latest trailer will show you the animated feature looks amazing — in art style, animation, soundtrack and, of course, voice acting.

Speaking of voice acting, Korean drama fans should like this one too.

After all, it’s mega-popular actress Kim Tae Ri (Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born and Revenant) voicing astronaut protagonist Nan Young, while Hong Kyung (Revenant) plays musician Jay.

The latest Lost in Starlight poster features Nan Young and Jay, as Jay has picked her up and she is wrapping her legs around his body as they both grin wildly.

Yep, Lost in Starlight is a romance hanguk aeni, and don’t they both look happy?

The plot of Lost in Starlight

The story of the 1-hour-36-minute film, called 이 별에 필요한 or  I Byeol-e Pil-yohan in Korean, begins in Seoul in 2050 when Nan Young goes to an audio equipment repair shop to get help in fixing an old record player her mom left behind.

Her mother disappeared years ago while on a space exploration trip to probe Mars, and Nan Young is obsessed with finding out what happened to her.

At the repair shop, she meets Jay, a musician and equipment repair guy, and the pair soon fall in love.

What follows in the trailer is scene after scene of the pair enjoying their life together, but with Nan Young having a secret she hasn’t told Jay about yet.

That secret causes their relationship to become “long-distance” when scientist and soon-to-be astronaut Nan Young accepts a place on a trip to Mars and leaves Jay far, far behind.

Will their relationship last the separation, and will Nan Young return safely to Earth, or disappear into space like her mother?

The animated film is directed by Seoul-based animator, illustrator and cartoonist Han Ji Won (The Summer).

Its premise is interesting, that art style is gorgeous, and the voice acting from two stellar Korean actors is captivating.

If the animated film then turns out to be as good as its trailer promises, Lost in Starlight could be one of the big Netflix hits of 2025.

Lost in Starlight premieres internationally on Netflix on May 30th. Look out for it.
