Jeon Jong Seo to star in Crush? Another edgy performance from one of Korea’s most interesting actresses?

South Korean actress Jeon Jong Seo has just been announced as possibly starring in the new crime thriller K-drama Crush.
And I must admit, the minute Jeon Jong Seo’s name pops up as being a possible favorite to star in any new drama, I am all ears.
After all, the 30-year-old is one of Korea’s most interesting and most talented young actresses. Not only for her performances, but also in the unique parts she chooses to take.
Parts that, you can guarantee, will make you uncomfortable as you sit on the edge of your seat.
If the news about Jeon Jong Seo’s involvement in Crush is accurate then, as you might expect from her performances in K-dramas like Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area and movies like the Netflix hit Ballerina, and in how she seems to love starring in something completely different, the role she would play in the gritty-sounding Crush is likely to be equally edgy.

Jeon Jong Seo’s role in Crush?
According to Korean news media, that role would be as military cybersecurity expert and now-hacker, Kang Min Ji. A woman whose father was murdered, and whose death she now plans to avenge by using all her technical and military expertise to find his killer.
And then kill them.
It also sounds as if Kang Min Ji may just be as strong a character as Jang Ok Ju, Jeon Jong Seo’s kickass character in Ballerina as, according to Star News, Min Ji deliberately joins the Korean Special Forces and endures that agency’s brutal training in order to achieve her goal.
Again, I am “all in” for that, as the way she played Jang Ok Ju had me rewinding, rewinding and rewinding Ballerina just to see her murder one of the many villains she is up against without even batting an eye and without much effort, and then quickly move onto the next.
Who is directing Crush?
To make Crush sound even more interesting, it is being directed by Jeon Gye Soo (director of the superb psychological melodrama Vertigo starring Teo Yoo and Chun Woo Hee), and co-written by Min Baek Doo (48m) and Um Jin Ah.
There is no confirmation from Jeon Jong Seo’s agency ANDMARQ yet as to whether the actress will be accepting the main role in Crush, but fingers crossed she does as, to say how incredibly talented she is, the number of K-dramas she has starred in is still very small.
We will keep you posted here at Leo Sigh as a confirmation or denial drops.
