Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon drops Mei character video – the maid who will die for her master

The upcoming action fantasy anime My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge! has dropped a Mei character video.

While not a long video, it does show Mei introducing herself to protagonist Light as someone who is a level 9999, and then promising she is a maid who is willing to die for her master.

Well, that’s nice, eh?

The video also confirms Ikumi Hasegawa (Lydia Leinster in Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter) as the voice actress who is playing Mei.

Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon production details

The anime is adapted from the My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge! light novel series, which is currently being published in English by J-Novel Club.

The series is being directed by Katsushi Sakurabi (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion), with Hiroshi Oonogi (Blue Archive the Animation) in charge of series composition, and Yukie Suzuki (Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy) designing the characters.

J.C. Staff (Delico’s Nursery) is animating the series.

As for the plot, it looks like this:

The anime series follows Light who, after he is evicted from his party Concord of the Tribes, finds himself stuck deep in the Abyss and in danger of being killed by any number of dangerous monsters. Not that the people in his old party care.

That’s when he uses his skill, Unlimited Gacha, and pulls Mei, the maid, who is a level 9999.

Fast forward three years, and Light has become increasingly powerful as he now has a harem of beautiful gacha girls, all who are at level 9999.

And now it’s time for Light to exact revenge on the people in his old party who really wanted him dead.

Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon premieres on October 3rd and, this time (thank you!), instead of streaming on Crunchyroll, it’s arriving on HIDIVE as part of that platform’s Fall 2025 schedule.

Look out for it.
