Aoshi finally gets a Season 2 almost 3 years after Season 1 ended
It will be three years in September since the football-themed anime series Aoashi ended its 24-episode run and, in all that time, fans have been desperately waiting for news of a Season 2.
That news arrived today via the official Aoashi X account, along with a cute visual of main man Ashito Aoi.
The account also commented about the upcoming Season 2:
Anime scheduled to air in 2026.
The production decision visual of Ashito, tying the laces of his spikes and looking straight ahead, has been released.
Animation studio TMS Entertainment.
And to prove how incredibly popular the second season is with fans, the Ashito visual was only uploaded to X three hours ago, and the post already has over 6,700 likes.
Aoashi production details
Of course, with just minimal details released so far, we don’t have any information about the second season’s staff or its plot. Yet.
We do know TMS Entertainment (Sakamoto Days) is taking over animation production from Season 1’s Production I.G. (which is probably where some of the delay occurred, while the production committee found a new studio that could take on such a popular anime and do it justice).
Season 1 was directed by Akira Satou (Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc), with series composition from Masahiro Yokotani (Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!), and character designs provided by Eisuke Shirai, Miho Daidouji, Saki Hasegawa, Toshie Kawamura, and Asuka Yamaguchi.
The anime adaptation is based on the long-running manga series written and illustrated by Yūgo Kobayashi. It currently has more than 23 million copies in circulation.
Volume 39 is due out in Japan on April 30th, with Volume 40 completing the series.

The manga’s first volume explains its plot like this:
Ashito Aoi, a third-year junior high school student living in Ehime, possesses rough but immense soccer talent. However, his overly straightforward personality leads him to face a major setback—
Then, Tatsuya Fukuda, the youth team coach of Tokyo City Esperion, a powerhouse J-League club based in Tokyo, appears before Ashito.
Recognizing Ashito’s limitless potential, Fukuda invites him to try out for his team’s selection camp in Tokyo!?
The fate of the boy destined to revolutionize Japanese soccer begins to turn rapidly from this moment on!!
Enjoy the Ashito Aoi visual until more details about the hit anime’s next season is released.
A season, by the way, that is still earning a very high 8.16 rating on My Anime List averaged from almost 120,000 users.
Yeah, viewers like it.
