Bae In Hyuk, star of the ongoing Korean drama Check in Hanyang, is currently in talks to head upcoming tvN drama I’ll Give You the Universe (working title).
According to Korean news media, Bae In Hyuk has been cast as the male lead in the new drama I’ll Give You the Universe, a coming-of-age romance that follows a man and a woman who are in-laws and who harbor many misunderstandings about each other, being forced to live together while co-raising their newly-orphaned nephew Woo Joo.
Bae In Hyuk will reportedly play the role of Sun Tae Hyung, a photographer’s assistant.
Sun Tae Hyung is a character who, after arguing with his in-law Woo Hyun Jin over the custody of their orphaned nephew Woo Joo, ends up living with her and raising Woo Joo together.
As you might expect, the pair eventually fall in love.
There is no word yet on who may play the female lead, or when the new tvN drama is scheduled to air.
Meanwhile, Bae In Hyuk’s agency, YY Entertainment, has commented the actor is positively reviewing an offer, but that no decision has yet been made.
Bae In Hyuk’s career
Only a couple of years after his acting career began, and Bae In Hyuk had already moved from being a rising star to a leading man.
His first main role in a major K-drama was as Park Dan Hee in the web mini drama XX in 2020.
That was quickly followed by playing Ban Sook in Kiss Goblin alongside Jeon Hye Won, Gye Sun Woo in the hit drama My Roommate is a Gumiho, Nam Soo Hyun in At a Distance, Spring is Green, and Park Jung Woo in Cheer Up on SBS.
A support role as the Crown Prince in the massively successful K-drama Under the Queen’s Umbrella then brought him to the attention of the casting committee for the male lead in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract in 2023.
Bae In Hyuk’s latest leading role is as Lee Eun/Lee Eun Ho in Channel A’s historical drama Check in Hanyang.
He also played the main role in the 2022 film Ditto.
