Harbin garners over 2.3 million admissions just 5 days after premiere

The South Korean historical action adventure Harbin was released on December 24th, and had already notched up more than 1 million admissions in just its first two days.

Now, just five days after the film premiered, and Harbin has now reached more than 2 million moviegoers. (Official number is currently 2,385,401 and rising).

That is one day faster than 12.12: The Day, last year’s most successful Korean film, managed to achieve the 2 million mark when it was first released.

The latest numbers were released by the Korean Film Council, who now has Harbin having garnered more than 2.3 million film attendees as of earlier today.

That number of moviegoers also means the Korean film has grossed almost $15.5 million at the South Korean box office during the same period.

It is showing on 1,911 screens around the country.

Harbin is currently still at #1 at the box office, as it has been every day since it released.

The film stars the superb cast of Hyun Bin, Park Jeong Min, Jeon Yeo Been, Lee Dong Wook, Jo Woo JinPark Hoon, and Yoo Jae Myung.

We’ll keep an eye on the Korean box office to see how Harbin continues to fare going forward here on Leo Sigh, and report back as soon as new numbers are released.

But, so far, this one is looking like it will be a mega-hit.
