My Happy Ending Ep 1 premieres to solid rating despite being up against MBC Drama Awards

The new TV Chosun drama My Happy Ending, Episode 1 premiered last night in South Korea to a solid first rating.

According to Nielsen Korea, that rating was 2.60 percent and is an especially promising first rating considering the new K-drama was up against the 2023 MBC Drama Awards, which aired on MBC at the same time.

My Happy Ending is one of three Saturday/Sunday evening dramas TV Chosun has aired in 2023, and is the drama airing after Durian’s Affair, which aired in the same time slot from June 24th to August 13th.

The first episodes of both Durian’s Affair and Red Balloon, the drama that aired in the same time slot before it, earned much higher ratings than My Happy Ending‘s, Episode 1 (although they weren’t competing against the MBC Drama Awards).

That then means there is a very high chance My Happy Ending‘s ratings will only skyrocket from here.

Who stars in My Happy Ending and when does it air?

My Happy Ending stars Jang Na Ra, Son Ho Jun, So Yi Hyun, Lee Ki Taek, Kim Hong Pa, and Park Ho San.

It will air every Saturday and Sunday evening at 21:10 (KST) on TV Chosun, with tvN airing it in some Asian countries, and Viki streaming the mystery thriller for international audiences.

Over on Viki, by the way, with two episodes now out, the Korean drama is already earning a rating of 9.9 out of 10 (although ratings on that site are known to be overly high but… that’s promising, right?)
