Nothing Uncovered Ep 1 premieres to lower ratings than Love Song for Illusion’s Ep 1 but…

Nothing Uncovered ratings very likely to rise

The new KBS2 melodrama Nothing Uncovered premiered last night to lower ratings than its predecessor drama, Love Song for Illusion, which aired in the same time slot (22:10 KST) to a nationwide rating of 4.3 percent for its first episode.

According to Nielsen Korea, Nothing Uncovered, Episode 1’s rating nationwide last night was 2.8 percent, which is quite a difference from that of the the drama that preceded it.

In Seoul, the drama’s rating was also 2.8 percent of the audience share.

That being said, the ratings for the first episode of any drama rarely mean anything as it is usually from then where the drama’s audience starts to rise or fall.

Considering Love Song for Illusion then went on to see a pretty large fall after its first episode (to 2.8 percent), and ended its 16-episode run eight weeks later with an average rating per episode of just 2.2 percent, I would say at this point, nobody knows where Nothing Uncovered‘s ratings will go next.

From the superb performances featured in Episode 1 and the writing, plot and directing so far, though, my guess is they will only rise.

Nothing Uncovered plot, cast and staff

The South Korean drama follows feisty journalist Seo Jung Won (played by Kim Ha Neul) whose hit crime show ‘Nothing Uncovered‘ is popular due to her sharp personality and her insistence on going after corrupt politicians/business men wherever she finds them.

After she becomes involved in a shocking incident, however, she finds herself suddenly teamed up with homicide detective and her ex-lover Kim Tae Heon (Yeon Woo Jin), and mystery writer/her husband Seol Woo Jae (Jang Seung Jo).

The trio begin to work together to solve what turns out to be a serial murder case. Although things may not be quite what they seem.

Nothing Uncovered airs on KBS2 in South Korea every Monday and Tuesday evening, with both KOCOWA and Viki carrying it in some western regions.

So far, this is a definite watch for me as the first episode was gripping from the start to its end.
