Portishead’s ‘The Rip’ featured on Big Little Lies, Season 2, Episode 1, “What Have They Done?”

The iconic British trip hop band Portishead’s ‘The Rip‘ was featured on the latest episode of the hit HBO drama series Big Little Lies this week — Season 2, Episode 1, “What Have They Done?

The track was played as Madeline decides to confront Abby in her room, and this is the song Abby is listening to when she does.

Portishead’s ‘The Rip’ is from the band’s third studio album Third. The last one the band has released. It was the second single from the album but, sadly, the track only charted in one country — France, where it hit the 98th spot.

The song came with a hand-drawn animated music video.

It was also resurrected late last year, more than 10 years after its initial release, when it was used as the background music for a Gucci Bloom commercial.

Listen to Portishead’s ‘The Rip‘ as featured on Big Little Lies in the original music video below. You can also hear their third studio album in its entirety in the Spotify widget below that.
