It has been rumored for several weeks that My Lovely Liar‘s Seo Ji Hoon would be part of the cast of the new JTBC drama My Youth.
Today, that has been confirmed with Seo Ji Hoon’s agency Management KOO stating he has joined the main cast.
Seo Ji Hoon will join other main cast members Lee Joo Myung, Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee, whose decisions to accept their My Youth role offers also came in recently.
The incredibly talented young actor himself had a very cute comment about being involved with My Youth, as he said:
It’s a great honor to be working with superb seniors in an extremely well-written drama.
I’m spending my time studying and working hard every day to avoid causing any inconvenience.
Korean news media is also reporting Seo Ji Hoon will play the role of Kim Seok Joo in the K-drama.
Seok Joo is a somewhat rebellious person who was born into a wealthy family and grew up getting everything he ever wanted. Because of that he feels lonely and empty inside.
A tax accountant, he can be a charming person, but also has a sharp side that can make him difficult to approach. Even with all that, he is still impossible to hate.
Seok Joo has a brotherly bond with Sun Woo Hae, who is played by Song Joong Ki.
Seo Ji Hoon’s career up until now
While still young at just 27, Seo Ji Hoon already has an extensive acting career behind him, which makes it very cute he is calling others in the main My Youth cast “seniors” (they are in age, but not in ability).
He began his acting career with a guest role in the Lee Je Hoon-led drama Signal in 2016 at the age of just 19, and since then has starred in K-dramas like Solomon’s Perjury, Longing Heart, Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter, Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, Meow, the Secret Boy and Men are Men.
His most recent starring roles include those in Revenge of Others, My Lovely Liar, Begins Youth and the recently aired Tarot.
Surprisingly, Seo Ji Hoon has not yet acted in a movie but, with the amount of talent he portrays in every role he takes, I am sure it will not be long before he does that as well.
Seo Ji Hoon’s role in My Youth is his first announced one of 2024, and may very well be his last for a while as he is nearing the top end age for mandatory military service.
