The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army… gets premiere date and we don’t have to wait long

Close to the top of my list of 2024 anime to watch is the upcoming isekai anime series The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human.

After some pretty stellar promo pieces released over the last few weeks, we also now have a firm premiere date via the anime’s official X account.

That date is July 3rd on  TOKYO MX in Japan, meaning we don’t have much longer to wait if it releases soon after in the west.

No word yet, though, on what streaming platform it will arrive on in the west but, like most times, my guess is Crunchyroll.

The Strongest Magician… anime details

The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human (aka Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta) is based on the dark fantasy light novel series written by Ryousuke Hata and illustrated by Kuma.

There are five volumes in the series alongside a manga spin-off with 10 volumes out so far, and Volume 11 due on June 14th.

Neither have yet been legally translated into English but, depending on how well the anime performs, we might get that soon.

As for the anime staff, Norihiko Nagahama (I’ve Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills) is directing, with Touko Machida (The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World) in charge of series composition, and Masami Sueoka (I’ve Somehow Gotten Stronger…) creating the character designs.

Studio A-CAT (She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man) producing the anime.

My Anime List describes The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army… plot like this:

Maou Army’s strongest magician, Ike, is a demon capable of capturing a fort alone. Clearing away enemies with immense magic, he is without a doubt a monster awed by friend and foe.

However Ike has a secret he can’t tell other demons. “Actually I’m human you know.”

Using modern knowledge to keep his secret, he is treated as a great commander and the driving force of the Maou’s army.

Ike’s real goal, however, is to create a world where demons and humans can co-exist.

Check out the recently released PV below, and give the first episode a watch some time early next month.
