Wind Breaker, Episode 11 recap – Sakura meets Tsugeura and Kiryu and then they save a girl

Wind Breaker, Episode 11 recap shows Sakura’s ideas about being at the top changing

Wind Breaker, Episode 11, titled “New Classmates,” begins with a focus on the aftermath of the fight between Sakura and his friends from Bofurin against Shishitoren.

The episode opens with Sakura reflecting on the words of Umemiya, the leader of Bofurin, as he walks to school with Nirei and Suo.

This reflection sets the tone for the episode, as it hints at Sakura’s reassessment of his future goals.

Getting to his classroom, he opens the door only to be mobbed by his classmates who are dying to know how the fight went between Bofurin and Shishitorne.

Classmate Tsugeura then joins the conversation.

He is the guy who was doing pull-ups at the window on Sakura’s first day at the school, with Nirei telling Sakura he doesn’t know much about him except he is supposed to be as strong as Suo and Sugishita.

The only thing Tsugeura is interested in, though, is what is Sakura’s “virtue”.

Not knowing what a virtue is, Sakura looks blankly at him, until Tsugeura explains it is what you are the most particular about. Or what you think is the most important.

He then asks the class to go for food after school, so they can all learn about Sakura’s virtue.

The rest of the class is immediately not interested, which is why, when the scene shifts to later that day, we see only Sakura, Nirei and Suo arriving at Muscle Power.

The place is Tsugeura’s favorite restaurant as it has a wrestling theme.

As they sit with Tsugeura, he tells Sakura he wants to fight him. After all, someone who arrives at a new school and immediately says he wants to take the top spot must have a lot of virtue.

Sakura is immediately interested, as fighting is what he loves.

The door then opens and Bofurin member Kiryu walks in hand-in-hand with a girl. He is the guy with pink hair and a pierced chin who sits in class playing games on his phone all day.

The two walk to another table as Nirei, who is red with excitement, points out that four of the five strongest guys in Class 1-1 are now at the cafe — Suo, Tsugeura, Sakura and now Kiryu.

Sakura asks Nirei to tell him what he knows about Kiryu, as he is always interested in the strongest guys, which prompts Tsugeura to ask Kiryu and the girl to sit with them as Sakura wants to get to know him better.

Kiryu admits he recognizes Sakura, as he knew he was the one who fought Sugishita on his first day at school, but didn’t know his name.

He then refuses the invitation to sit with them, as he is already with the girl.

But Tsugeura refuses to take “No” for an answer, and walks to Kiryu’s table loudly asking him again to sit with them.

This is when we first see how threatening Kiryu can be, as he immediately stands up and asks Tsugeura to speak quieter as the girl is afraid.

He points out he has a large build and he’s loud, and that can often frighten girls. And, if he continues like that, he will never be popular with girls.

Instead of making Tsugeura angry, however, what Kiryu said makes him apologize to the girl.

Kiryu and the girl then leave, as Tsugeura walks back to his own table and says scaring someone like that is against his own virtue.

A commotion is then heard outside the restaurant and the sound of guys shouting, and we see Kiryu and the girl suddenly surrounded by a group of angry men.

As Kiryu tells them they’re annoying, Sakura, Tsugeura, Suo and Nirei appear through the restaurant door, and Kiryu explains to them he rescued the girl a few minutes before after one of the punks was leading her down a dark alley.

So he knocked the punk and a couple of guys with him to the ground, then he and the girl ran. That is why they were in the restaurant.

Now the punk is back with a group of friends he rounded up, and is spoiling for a fight.

As one of the group lunges at Kiryu to hit him, Sakura appears out of nowhere and smacks the guy to the ground commenting how incredibly “lame” it is to have to get a group together to fight for you.

Kiryu, Sakura and Tsugeura then decide to beat the entire group, and get rid of the problem that way.

Interestingly, however, Tsugeura allows himself to be smacked to the floor. But, as Sakura suggests to Tsugeura he might not be that strong, another guy attempts to hit Tsugeura while he is down.

That punch is stopped mid-swing with Tsugeura explaining he always lets his opponent get in the first hit, and then annihilates them after that. He then proceeds to do that by slamming the guy who tried to hit him down onto the concrete and knocking him out.

This is the signal for the fight to really begin as, while Suo protects the girl, Tsugeura, Sakura and Kiryu destroy all of the gang that come at them.

Suo easily flips a guy who is trying to punch him

Suo then gets in on the act when one guy accuses him of just standing back, and immediately knocks him to the floor.

It isn’t long before every guy in the group has been knocked to the ground unconscious, and Tsugeura tells Sakura he can have the honor of saying the Bofurin motto — something the gang does when they beat another gang.

Sakura, of course, doesn’t know the motto but he has heard Bofurin members shout it before at the end of fights, so Tsugeura shouts the motto himself — it is the same one that is painted on the wall as you enter town.

After the girl has left, thanking the Bofurin members for rescuing her, Kiryu turns to Sakura and tells him, because of how strong he is in fights, he really is amazing.

When Tsugeura points out, of course, Sakura is amazing as he plans on taking the top Bofurin spot, Kiryu replies it is a good thing their class hasn’t yet chosen the Grade Captain.

He then asks for Sakura’s contact information.

Not ever having had friends before, Sakura has never given his contact information to anyone. That’s when all the other Bofurin members ask for it as well.

The episode then switches to the following day and a sweet scene, with Sakura eating breakfast in the cafe where Kotoha works and constantly looking at his phone smiling.

Kotoha realizes it is the first time he has ever had other people’s contact information on his phone, and so adds hers as well.

But, when there are Good Morning messages from every one of his new friends, Sakura doesn’t understand why as, surely, he will be seeing them at school in a few minutes?

The group then begins texting about choosing the Grade Captain, with Sakura trying to reply asking what a Grade Captain is, but being unable to type fast enough.

Arriving in the classroom a few minutes later, it is only to find the Grade Captain and Secondary Captains for the Tamon Team second years also arriving to make sure the first-years choose their own Grade Captain.

It is then Sakura realizes the Grade Captain is literally the top person in the classroom, but is then shocked when Suo nominates him to be Class 1-1’s Grade Captain.

This development is significant as it marks Sakura’s first step towards taking on a leadership role within his school, aligning with his journey of self-discovery and growth throughout the series.
