Conchita’s From Vienna with Love album release is in three days

If you love phenomenally good music, do yourself a favor.

Head to Austrian singer Conchita‘s Instagram account, and listen to the song snippets she is uploading there.

The songs are from Conchita’s upcoming From Vienna with Love album, which releases in three days on October, 19th.

A pop classical crossover collaboration with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra which, in my opinion, is one of the most exciting things this ridiculously versatile artist has ever done.

Particularly as several songs on the album are an enormous surprise, considering the type of music Conchita usually sings.

A cover of Julie Andrews’ ‘The Sound of Music‘, all sung with an astounding vocal range you would never have guessed Conchita had just a couple of years ago.

A Conchita version of Barbra Streisand’s ‘The Way We Were” that I think even the notoriously difficult to please Babs would love.

An original song ‘Have I Ever Been in Love‘, written by Steve Anderson and Emma Rohan, which is far more of a melodramatic show song than past Conchita offerings.

And an intriguing new version of Conchita’s iconic Eurovision-winning song ‘Rise Like a Phoenix‘. (see her Instagram account!)

Sam Smith’s James Bond ‘Spectre‘ song ‘Writing’s on the Wall‘ is also on the album and, from the snippet (below), Conchita easily hits those enormous high notes Smith should have been able to hit, but couldn’t.

There is even a version of Alanis Morissette’s ‘Uninvited‘, which should be “too cool” for Conchita, but absolutely isn’t. (And this is the one I am looking forward to hearing in full the most because, geez, that is a difficult song for anyone to sing. But sung by a man?)

And all of this, of course, is accompanied by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. One of the world’s best classical music orchestras, and one that is adding a gorgeously rich sound to everything Conchita is doing here.

Conchita’s From Vienna with Love with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra releases on Friday, October 19th.

The physical CD is available at music shops everywhere and, of course, on the usual online music platforms (Amazon, iTunes, Google Play).

If you are in Vienna, Conchita will also doing a CD signing at EMI — the Music Store, at Kärntner Straße 30 in Vienna on Friday, October 19th from 5-6pm.
