Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon has released a video of himself performing a cover of indie rock band Spoon’s ‘Inside Out’, and it is gorgeous — both the song and the film.
And that is because Vernon’s version is beautiful because it is so simple. No heavy beat, no added backing vocals, or overlapping music tracks, just Justin Vernon sitting at a piano. Playing. And singing.
The original Spoon version is from the band’s album eighth studio album They Want My Soul.
Released in August, 2014, the 10-track album hit the charts in seven countries, and gained places on three Billboard charts including Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums. It was hugely critically successful with critics in North America and beyond.
Justin Vernon’s version of ‘Inside Out’ was released to help promote the upcoming Eaux Claires Music Festival.
Watch the video for the song below.
And also watch Spoon’s original ‘Inside Out‘ in the video below that. It is just as beautiful. Only in a more simple, and softer way.
