Can’s ‘She Brings the Rain’ featured on Euphoria, Season 2, Ep. 2 — Listen!

Decades ago, there was a German experimental rock band called Can that produced some pretty cool jazz-infused and avant-garde tracks.

A band that released a helluva lot of albums and songs in its almost 30-year life, yet was still primarily unknown to the mainstream music world outside Germany and parts of the rest of Europe.

One of these tracks, Can’s ‘She Brings The Rain‘ was a surprise addition to last night’s episode of Euphoria on Hulu — Euphoria, Season 2, Episode 2, “Out of Touch“. (I mean, where do these music supervisors find the music they use on their shows?)

The song was heard through the montage as Rue is on her bike, Nate and Cassie are in the car and Maddy calls Nate.

The track originated on the band’s compilation album Soundtracks, which came out in 1970 via the United Artists and Liberty record labels.

The album featured songs that had been written for various European films, with ‘She Brings the Rain’ initially appearing on a German film called Ein großer graublauer Vogel and, 25 years later, also showing up on Wim Wenders’ Lisbon Story.

Can’s ‘She Brings The Rain‘ is a mellow, jazz-tinged piece with a gorgeous bassline, and a very 1970s-sounding guitar, as well as one of those tracks that sounds quite simple until you realize, hours later, you’re still humming “She brings the rain”.

Listen to Can’s ‘She Brings The Rain‘ from yesterday’s episode of Euphoria on the remastered version of Can’s Soundtracks album, and in the video.

If you enjoyed the track, you might want to check out some of the rest of Can’s library of works as well, as there is a helluva lot to like.

You can also listen to more of the tracks from last night’s Euphoria on Leo Sigh.
