Choi Woo Shik to star in The Waking movie on Disney+? Here’s what we know so far

According to South Korean news media, Korean-Canadian actor Choi Woo Shik is currently in talks to star in the new Disney+ movie The Waking (working title).

The actor’s agency, FABLE COMPANY, responded to the reports with the usual comment “He has been offered a role in the film, and it is one of several projects he is currently reviewing”.

The Waking is being directed by Kim Tae Gon (Project Silence), and tells the story of one organization that manages giants and another that is fighting against them.

If he accepts the role, Choi Woo Shik would play the lead role of Jun Ho, a man who works in a cold storage warehouse and who suddenly finds a stone that allows him to become a giant.

Being a giant then allows him to infiltrate the organization that is promoting them.

Choi Woo Shik’s career

Since his career began in 2011, the 34-year-old actor has starred in some of the best dramas and films of recent years.

He rose to international prominence, however, after starring in the zombie thriller Train to Busan in 2016.

His past roles have included starring in dramas like Our Beloved Summer and The Boy Next Door, and in films Wonderland, The Policeman’s Lineage, Time to Hunt and Parasite.

In 2024, he has already had a main role in the hit drama A Killer Paradox, and is also one of the main cast of the upcoming Netflix drama Melo Movie, which is due to air in 2025.

The casting of The Waking is expected to happen quickly as filming is set to kick off soon.

The film itself will premiere on Disney+ some time in early 2025.
