Chvrches ‘Leave A Trace’ is Full of Anger and Fire, and It’s Beautiful – Repeat Rotation Video

The Chvrches video for their latest single ‘Leave A Trace’ is the same video that was the target of misogynistic trolls from 4chan a few weeks ago.

You know, those idiots who said Chvrches lead singer Lauren Mayberry was a ‘whore’ or a ‘slut’ because she wore a short dress in it (don’t you love the 4chan morons that seem to just get stupider and meaner as time goes on?)

The Chvrches video for ‘Leave A Trace‘ is also my Repeat Rotation Video for today. Not only because  Lauren Mayberry looks amazing in it, but also because this song really is gorgeous. Because while ‘Leave A Trace’ still has the quintessential richness and smartness Chvrches is known for, it’s also the catchiest pop song.

But, look deeper than just the pop beat, and listen to the lyrics. Because they are full of anger and fire, and they’re beautiful.

In fact, there’s no sugar and light there at all. Just a song about a woman saying what she won’t put up with any more from a man who seems to think he’s God.

I will show restraint
Just like we said we should
You think I’ll apologize for things I left behind
But you got it wrong
And I’m as sane as I ever was

You talk far too much
For someone so unkind
I will wipe the salt off of my skin
And I’ll admit that I got it wrong
And there is grey between the lines

And you had best believe
That you cannot build what I don’t need
And I know I need to feel relief
And I know you’ll never fold
But I believe nothing that I’m told
And I know I need to feel relief

And what is interesting about the ‘Leave A Trace‘ lyrics too, they could be applied to 4chan and the idiots that populate that website. “You talk far too much, for someone so unkind”. You can say that again.

Watch and listen to Chvrches ‘Leave A Trace‘ in the video below. And I recommend headphones on, playing it as loud as it will go and, of course, dancing.

As for the album the track comes from? That’s Chvrches upcoming new album Every Open Eye, which will release on September 25th. And that? It is sounding quite spectacular.
