The ViennaSphere began its five European cities tour in Barcelona, Spain last night with a multimedia show and a live performance by Conchita Wurst.

The Sphere is a project created by the Vienna Tourist Board to showcase Vienna around Europe in the lead up to the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna in May. The other cities the ViennaSphere will appear in are Paris, London, Milan and Berlin. Conchita will perform live in each city the evening before the Sphere opens, with her first performance, of course, last night.

A performance that must have been something quite spectacular, as social media lit up with photographs and video of the Austrian singer on stage at the ViennaSphere soon afterward, with people exclaiming how fabulous she sounded and looked.

Then again, Conchita Wurst certainly knows how to give a live performance and, in yet another spectacular dress by Austrian design house JCHOERL, this time a dramatic and sexy long-sleeved red number with a plunging cut out detail at the chest, and a slit up to mid-thigh, she looked incredible.

While in Barcelona this week, Conchita was also interviewed and performed on the Spanish TV show ‘En el aire, as well as did a radio interview with La Tribu Catalunya Radio, and even met Edurne, Spain’s representative to Eurovision 2015.

Edurne told Spanish broadcaster RTVE about the meeting with Conchita, saying “She was lovelyIt was a pleasure to meet her, and especially to talk to her about the contest. She was so kind as to share her experience with me. I’m sure we will meet again in Vienna!

All in all, sounds like another exciting week for Conchita Wurst (isn’t every week?), as well as a very successful kick off for the ViennaSphere.

Conchita will be singing next at the ViennaSphere in Paris on March 25th.  If you’re in town, make sure you visit. Meanwhile, enjoy the gorgeous photos.
