What I think is going to be the best Conchita Wurst concert of the year is taking place this Sunday, September 7th, 2014, in Bad Mitterndorf, Austria. The Empfang von Song Contest Siegerin Conchita Wurst“.

As all Conchita Wurst fans know, Bad Mitterndorf is where Tom Neuwirth, Conchita’s alter ego, spent most of his childhood. It’s also a place where, even though he had problems because people thought he was ‘different’, Bad Mitterndorf still seems to hold a special place in his heart.

Now, after Conchita Wurst’s Eurovision win and subsequent international fame, for her to be performing in her first big concert as an international star in front of the people of Bad Mitterndorf, many of whom are family and close friends, means it really is going to be something special.

The concert begins at 1pm on Sunday in the Kurpark in Bad Mitterndorf with music from the popular local group Die Niachtn. Conchita will be introduced by ORF’s Erich Fuchs at 2pm.

According to the organizers, this Conchita Wurst concert will be a very different one from what we’re used to seeing. That’s because she’ll be singing with childhood friend, Kristin Grieshofer, and Bad Mitterndorf’s wind band, and some of the arrangements of the songs we’re used to hearing her sing are new.

Conchita Wurst will also sign autographs after the concert until 4pm, so if you haven’t met her or just want to meet her again, this is the concert you should be at.

You can find out more about ‘Empfang von Song Contest Siegerin Conchita Wurst’ on the event’s Facebook page. It is in German, but Google Translate is a wonderful thing.

And don’t forget. If you are able to attend, take video and post it on YouTube. The rest of us have hearts that are breaking just a little bit as we won’t be able to see her.
