Australian singer Courtney Barnett’s debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit has been very successful. So much so, she has just released a new 7″ single on Third Man Records — “Boxing Day Blues (Revisited)“, and that track is getting some very nice reviews too.

And it is an interesting song, as it starts out upbeat and a bit chirpy (chirpy for the melancholic Barnett anyway) but it soon turns into a bit more of a sad number, especially when you listen to the lyrics — “What do you feel for me anyway?“.

Then you realize the whole song is about someone she still loves, who has not only walked away, but also treats her like dirt.

Well, the word ‘blues’ is in the title, so what do you expect?
