I love songs that have long instrumental introductions, which is why I’m playing the album version of Death Cab for Cutie‘s ‘I Will Possess Your Heart‘ for my Repeat Rotation Video today.
It has an instrumental introduction of 4 minutes 30 seconds out of an 8 minute 31 second video, as well as one of the coolest and quite saddest music videos.
The video was filmed in Paris, London, Frankfurt, Carthage, Bangkok (my home town), Tunis, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Tokyo, Hokkaido and New York, and is filmed from the perspective of an unseen and unnamed person following the girl they love around the world with a camera.
Probably in the hope that, if they take her to the most amazing places, maybe then they can ‘possess her heart’.
Watch and listen to Death Cab for Cutie’s ‘I Will Possess Your Heart‘ in the video below. Isn’t that just beautiful? And doesn’t it seem so sad?
And by the way, don’t miss Death Cab for Cutie’s Tiny Desk concert over on NPR. Only four songs played live, but how great those songs were.
