Ongoing Korean historical drama Goryeo–Khitan War (aka Korea-Khitan War) aired its sixth episode in South Korea last night to its highest ever ratings nationwide.

According to the latest numbers from Nielsen Korea, Goryeo–Khitan War, Episode 6 earned 7.8 percent of the nationwide audience on Sunday night, which is a small increase from its previous episode’s 7.5 percent.

In Seoul, the K-drama saw a very slight fall in its ratings — from Episode 5’s rating of 7.0 percent to last night’s 6.9 percent — so still a very solid rating, and hardly a fall worth noting.

Considering the drama aired directly opposite the very popular Castaway Diva on tvN, which also saw a ratings increase last night, that its ratings increased then is very impressive.

What is the plot of Goryeo-Khitan War?

Goryeo–Khitan War stars the stellar cast of Kim Dong Jun, Choi Soo Jong, and Ji Seung Hyun, with Lee Won Jong, Lee Ji Hoon, Lee Si Ah, Kim San Ho, Kim Jae Min, Ha Seung Ri, Baek Sung Hyun and Jo Hee Bong in supporting roles.

The Korean drama is based on the novel Goryeo–Khitan War: Sweet Rain in the Winter by Gil Seung-soo.

It tells the story of King Hyeonjong of Goryeo (played by Kim Dong Jun) who defeats the Chinese-led Khitans in the now-famous 10th and 11th century Korean wars.

The 32-episode drama premiered on KBS2 on November 11th, and is scheduled to run through February 25th, 2024.

It is available to watch on a variety of streaming platforms around the world, although it can be difficult to find on legal platforms for viewers in the EU.
