Punk rock band Green Day has released the official lyrics video for ‘Say Goodbye‘, another track from their recently released new album Revolution Radio.

And the animated video with its images of dead birds, bullets and guns, coffins, the Virgin Mary and fighter jets shows a world descending into violence, and  is what you might expect for this track.

Especially considering lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong has said the song was influenced by what was happening in Ferguson, Missouri last year when tanks were on America’s streets and, to him, it felt and looked no different than the Middle East’s Arab Spring.

Green Day’s Revolution Radio was released on October 7th on Reprise Records, and hit the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart during its first week.

It is a superb album, though, and in my mind ‘Say Goodbye‘ is one of the best tracks on it.

Listen to it and watch the official lyrics video below. It is an interesting commentary on modern day America, and just where it might be heading. And, let’s just say, that’s not a good thing.

Pick up Green Day’s Revolution Radio on most major online music sites, and stream it on Spotify and Deezer.
