Gyeongseong Creature trailer proves K-drama has everything – gorgeous actors, a thrilling plot and lots of action

Gyeongseong Creature trailer has Park Seo Jun and Han So Hee in a dire situation

For those of us who have been fans of Korean actor Park Seo Jun since he starred in the K-drama What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?, his latest project, the upcoming Netflix series Gyeongseong Creature, cannot come soon enough.

Especially as the just-released Gyeongseong Creature trailer (watch below) makes the period drama look like it may have everything — gorgeous actors, superb performances, outstanding action scenes and special effects, beautiful cinematography, and wonderfully-designed period costumes.

Throw in an interesting plot that takes place in 1945, during one of Korea’s most turbulent eras, and this one might just be both the best way to finish out 2023 and the most exciting way to start 2024 (the drama will be released in two parts).

This week, Gyeongseong Creature got a cool looking trailer and poster featuring Park Seo Jun and his co-star Han So Hee (The World of the Married), and one that makes the new drama look both terrifying and pretty damned exciting.

The new Gyeongseong Creature poster features Park Seo Jun and his co-star Han So Hee seemingly trapped in Ongseong Hospital, Park Seo Jun (who plays Jang Tae Sang) is holding a high-powered rifle while Han So Hee (as Yoon Chae Ok) is gripping a knife.

The pair are standing back to back while surrounded by prison cells that are obviously full of people who are imprisoned there, as we can see their hands reaching out in an effort to be saved.

What is the plot of Gyeongseong Creature?

As for the plot of Gyeongseong Creature, the short trailer and the synopsis released by Netflix give us a bit more of a clue as to what we can expect in this exciting looking drama.

Set in early 1945 when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule, the series centers around two young adults who encounter strange creatures born from greed, and then must battle for survival in the city of Gyeongseong — now known as Seoul.

But it turns out, there may be something even more dangerous out there than the creatures themselves.

Jang Tae Sang is the wealthiest man in Gyeongseong and the Master of the city’s biggest pawn shop.

While he is someone who puts money before justice, all that changes when Tae Sang crosses paths with Yoon Chae Ok while investigating a series of missing person cases.

She is a famous sleuth who can track down missing people, even ones who are dead. That is because Chae Ok possesses a sharp eye and agile survival skills learned from her rough childhood roaming across Manchuria and Shanghai with her father.

Gyeongseong Creature is directed by Jung Dong Yoon (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay) and, alongside leads Park Seo Jun and Han So Hee, also stars the excellent cast of Kim Su Hyun, Kim Hae Sook, Jo Han Chul, and Wi Ha Joon.

When is Gyeongseong Creature premiering on Netflix?

The drama is due to release on Netflix in two parts.

Part 1, which will consist of seven episodes, will release on December 22nd on Netflix, with Part 2 and its three episodes coming out on January 5th.

For the binge-watchers among us who love to see an entire drama in a couple of days, early January it is then.

Enjoy the fabulous imagery of the new Gyeongseong Creature poster above, and watch the new Gyeongseong Creature trailer below.

Then decide, do you watch the first part then wait the agonizing two weeks for the second, or do like I plan to do, sit down on January 5th (it’s a Friday) and binge the entire freaking thing?

And, by the way, if you end up loving the drama, there is supposedly a Season 2 already in the planning stages.
