Janelle Monae’s ‘I Like That‘ shows she is strong and confident

American singer songwriter and rapper Janelle Monáe debuted a new song yesterday. Called ‘I Like That‘, it is the fourth released song from her upcoming third studio album, along with the title track ‘Dirty Computer‘, ‘Pynk‘, ‘Django Jane‘ and ‘Make Me Feel‘.

‘Monáe’s I Like That‘ is also a track that pulls no punches. Strong, confident and not willing to change herself to suit someone else, because she loves herself just the way she is, Monáe sings:

I don’t care what I look like but I feel good/ Better than amazing, and better than I could/ Told the whole world ‘I’m the venom and the antidote/ Take a different type of girl to keep the world afloat./And I like that / I don’t really give a fuck if I’m the only one who likes that.

All I can say is it is a pity more women don’t feel like Janelle, because so many let themselves be put down or told to change, by both other women and men, when they never ever should.

Self love, ladies. That’s what it’s all about. Because you are the person you should always love the most.

Janelle Monáe’s new album Dirty Computer is due for release on April 27th. Sounds to me like it’s going to be a hit.

Now listen to ‘I Like That’ below, and then tell me you don’t think so.
