Jess Glynne makes it to number 1 in the UK with ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself

British singer/songwriter Jess Glynne hit #1 in the UK charts this week with her new single ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself‘. With that number 1 spot, Glynne also made it into the record books as having the most chart-toppers for a British female singer — an honor she shares with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, who has also hit the number 1 spot five times.

There’s no surprise with Jess Glynne’s ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself‘ making it to the top of the charts so fast, however, (it jumped 77 places from its spot last week), as it really is a rocking song. Plus, Glynne’s voice is so incredible — raspy, sexy and soulful — and quite Amy Winehouse in sound.

And I have to admit, with Glynne’s name popping up so much, and with her now-five number one singles on the UK charts, I kept mistakenly thinking she already had an album out. Well, now she does.

Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself‘ is from Glynne’s debut album I Cry When I Laugh, which just released in the UK a couple of days ago. The deluxe edition of the album includes all five number 1 singles. It will release in the US on September 11th.

Now watch Glynne’s official video for ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself‘ in the video below. It’s a song you’re going to be singing for days after you first hear it.

And, of course, if you like what you hear, her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, is already available for pre-order in the US.
