K-drama Oasis Episode 8 ratings show drama’s biggest audience yet in Korea

The already popular Korean drama Oasis, Episode 8 ratings came out via Nielsen Korea earlier today and, if you didn’t think the period drama was popular in Korea, think again.

Not only did the Oasis, Episode 8 ratings show the drama’s audience continues to grow, the episode also earned its biggest audience yet.

Last night’s episode garnered Oasis 7.4 percent of the audience in its time slot nationwide, with a slightly higher 7.6 percent in Seoul.

That means the audience for the eighth episode of the coming-of-age melodrama is a full 1 percent higher from its first episode on March 6th, with an even higher 1.4 percent in Seoul.

Oasis stars Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah, and Choo Young Woo as the main protagonists, and is a pretty heavy drama about three young people during the 1980s in South Korea.

One of the most socially turbulent times in the Asian country’s recent history.

With international audiences outside Korea, however, they seem to be split on whether the drama is a “watch-till-the-end” or a “drop now” depending on the platform they are posting on.

In My Drama List ratings Oasis currently has only a 7.9 out of 10 score, with several people hinting it is too depressing to continue watching.

Over on Viki, where the drama is streaming outside Korea, the drama is rated 9.5 out of 10 with most people commending the acting and the plot, even if they find it largely dark and depressing.
