Surinamese-Dutch singer Kenny B’s upcoming new album is looking like it’s going to be quite a big hit as his first single from the album, ‘Parijs’, has just catapulted to number 1 in the Netherlands. It’s not surprising either. It really is wonderful.
Kenny B, real name Kenneth Bron, was born in the Republic of Suriname in the early 60s, but has made a name for himself with a singing career in the Netherlands. Over the last few years, he has released a series of singles and albums in Surinamese with limited success but, with the new album, has decided to go in a completely different direction — more of a pop/reggae style — and in a mix of Dutch and Surinamese.
And, if this first number one single for Kenny B is anything to go by, it looks like it’s working.
The new album is a self-titled Kenny B and will be released on Friday, May 15th. You can pre-order it on iTunes.
Meanwhile, watch Kenny B’s official video for ‘Parijs’ below. It’s a fun, catchy, cool song and has a gorgeous video to go with it.
