Korean actor Ko Sang Ho is joining the cast of the upcoming K-drama When the Phone Rings. His agency, Good Friends Corp, confirmed his latest project to Korean news media earlier today.
Ko Sang Ho will join When the Phone Rings’ superb main cast Yoo Yeon Seok (Hospital Playlist), Chae Soo Bin (The Fabulous), Heo Nam Jun (Your Honor) and Jang Gyu Ri (The Player 2: Master of Swindlers).
When the Phone Rings is a new 12-episode MBC drama that will also stream internationally on Netflix.
It is being directed by Park Sang Woo (The Forbidden Marriage), with the screenplay by Kim Ji Woon (Doctor John).
What is the plot of When the Phone Rings?
The Korean drama follows a couple who are the product of a marriage of convenience.
The man, Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) is a presidential spokesman, while his wife Hong Hui Ju (Chae Soo Bin) is mute, due to an accident she was involved in as a child. She works as a sign language interpreter.
While they are pretending in public to be a happy couple, they rarely see each other.
Things drastically change in their lives, however, when Hong Hui Ju is suddenly kidnapped.
Ko Sang Ho’s role will be as reporter Jang Hyuk Jin. He is also Baek Sa Eon’s best friend.
The 39-year-old actor’s When the Phone Rings role will also be his first drama appearance since his supporting role in the recently ended Chief Detective 1958.
He has also acted in support roles in Dr. Romantic Seasons 2 and 3, Taxi Driver Season 2, Vincenzo, Ghost Doctor and The Forbidden Marriage in previous years.
Happily, we do not have long to wait for the premiere of When the Phone Rings (aka지금 ê±°ì‹ ì „í™”ëŠ” in Korean) or Ko Sang Ho’s appearance in it, as it is currently slated to kick off on November 15th on MBC and Netflix.
It will then air/stream every Friday and Saturday through December 21st.
