The song was played as Heath and Liz talk, and as Rosa tells Liz about her powers.

Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic‘ was released in early 1996 as the third single from the Canadian singer’s third studio album Jagged Little Pill.

The song went on to become one of Morissette‘s biggest hits, and a signature song for the indie singer.

It charted in 15 countries, hitting 7 charts in the United States and making it to #1 on the Alternative Airplay chart and on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart.

Ironic‘ was also certified Gold in 7 countries, including the U.S., as well as Platinum in the UK.

The lyrics of the song, however, were generally lampooned by critics as many of the instances in the song that are called ‘ironic’ are just not.

Something that Morissette took well, and even made fun of herself in future years.

But… the song itself is catchy and anthem-like, and beloved by Morissette fans. So there’s that.

Listen to Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic‘ on the singer’s Jagged Little Pill album (25th Anniversary Edition), and in the song’s official music video below.

The video features Morissette driving a car, as various other Morissettes get in and out of it.
