The late British singer Amy Winehouse’s ‘Wake Up Alone‘ was one of almost half a dozen tracks played on Will Trent last night — Will Trent, Season 1, Episode 9, “Manhunt“.
In its case, the track was the song playing at the end of the episode as Will walks into the kitchen as Angie is making toast, and as she asks about Faith.
It continues playing as he notices the non-alcoholic beer bottle in the trash, and asks Angie what’s going on.
Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Wake Up Alone‘ was one of the track’s from the R&B, soul singer’s second and last album Back to Black.
The album was released in late 2006 on the Island Records label and featured songs based on the relationship Winehouse had with a boyfriend she had broken up with but then, after the album’s release, got back together with and married.
Back to Black was critically acclaimed, with five hit singles being released from it and with the album experiencing astronomical success worldwide.
Back to Black hit the top spot on charts in #19 countries, including her home country of the United Kingdom where it made it to #1 on the UK Albums chart and the UK R&B Albums chart.
In the United States, Back to Black did not see a #1 chart place, but it did chart at #3 or higher on four different charts including at #2 on the Billboard 200.
The singer herself sadly died five years later of alcohol poisoning, and without releasing another full-length album. A third compilation album called Lioness: Hidden Treasures, which featured several unreleased tracks, came out a few months after her death.
